Along the pathway of achieving the 2030 Agenda, the UN Member States have mandated the Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR). Released every four years, the GSDR contributes to a review on the progress to and support for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The report is also a major input for the High-Level Political Forum. An independent group of scientists has drafted the 2023 report to be released next September.
Before the release of the GSDR 2023, the International Science Council (ISC) was invited by UNDESA to coordinate a scientific review. The scientific review consists of an open call to 150 experts to review the draft report and the formation of a working group of 15 leading experts covering many scientific disciplines and representing all global regions to review and consolidate the main feedback on the draft. Nominated by the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE), Caroline Gevaert, co-chair of the ISDE Working Group on Digital Earth Governance and Ethics, was selected as one of these 15 global experts to support the review process.
