The 1st academic salon of the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) was greeted with enthusiasm by an engaging audience and embarked on a deep exploration of the theme "Digital Twin & Drone Imagery" on November 20, 2023 at ISDE Secretariat's branch office in East Bay International Center, Chaoyang District, Beijing.

This event featured two intriguing keynote speeches. Dr Irfaan Peerun, a postdoctoral research fellow from Griffith University, Australia, gave an informative presentation on "Digital Twin of Griffith University Nathan Campus". He thoroughly showcased the Nathan Campus Digital Twin project he leads by presenting abundant field work cases that engrossed the audience and led to lively discussions. Dr. Tengyuan Fan from Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIR, CAS) delivered an impressive presentation titled "Construction and Implementation about Digital Twin of Remote Sensing Experimental Field", igniting exchanges of ideas.

The salon was moderated by Dr. Zhen Liu, Executive Director of ISDE, and Prof. Wei Chen from China University of Mining & Technology. Participants from the Aerospace Information Research Institute, CAS, the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS, China University of Mining and Technology, Jilin University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Guangzhou University, and Beijing Forestry University actively engaged in the discussions. The event was enhanced by the presence of a representative from PIESAT Information Technology Co., Ltd, a leading satellite internet service provider in China, adding an industry perspective to the proceedings.
