ISDE Former Executive Committee Member Awarded Academician of Marseille

On April 17th, 2024, Prof. Jean Sequeira, former Executive Committee member of the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) and Full Professor at the Computer Science Department of the Aix-Marseille University, was conferred the title of Academician of Marseilles Academy (Académie des Sciences, Lettres et Arts). The conferment ceremony took place in the main building (headquarters) of the Aix-Marseille University, Jardin du Pharo, France.

Introduced by two esteemed referrers, Prof. Patrick Cozzone and Prof. Michel Delaage who also graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique, Prof. Jean Sequeira assumes now the seat number 29, occupied before by Prof. Henri Tachoire.

Prof. Jean Sequeira, a specialist of Digital Imaging and an expert of Artificial Intelligence, is the CEO of the 2IK Company (Image, Information & Knowledge) and has been a Distinguished Professor of the Aix-Marseille University since 2010. In 2006, he participated in the inauguration of International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) and served as an ISDE Executive Committee member for ten years. Throughout his tenure from 2006 to 2015, he contributed a lot to the ISDE conferences, i.e. the International Symposium on Digital Earth and Digital Earth Summit, and the Digital Earth vision, and made contributions to the creation of the International Journal of Digital Earth (IJDE) jointly published by ISDE and the Taylor & Francis Group.

His research activity focuses on image analysis, geometrical modeling and image synthesis with 134 publications including 40 in journals and books, 62 in international conferences, 28 in national conferences and 4 patents. He is also an IEEE Senior Member.
