The 3rd ISDE Academic Salon Concluded in Beijing

On October 18, 2023, the 3rd academic salon was successfully held at Capital Normal University in Beijing, China. Organized by the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) and Capital Normal University, the event explored the fascinating theme of "Innovative Applications of Sensing Technologies, AI, 3D Digital Twins, and GIS in the Built Environment: Transforming Buildings, Construction, Civil Engineering, and Urban Planning", generating considerable interest among the attendees.

This salon featured Prof. Samad Sepasgozar from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, who also serves on the Editorial Board of the journal Big Earth Data. Having written a book Quantum Cities and AI-Powered Metaverses single-handedly, he is ranked among the Top 50 in architecture, computer science, and engineering globally by The Australian, among the Top 2% of researchers worldwide by Stanford University, and as one of the world's Top 1% Reviewers by Publons, Web of Science.

Prof. Samad Sepasgozar delivered a presentation

Prof. Samad Sepasgozar engaged the audience with a compelling presentation that showcased case studies on the applications of AI, Digital Twin models, GIS and other sensing technologies in the innovative construction of urban environments. Drawing on his expertise in sustainable technology development, he integrated cutting-edge digital technologies with long-term planning strategies for civil engineering, more resilient urban cities and the environment at large. His introduction and research sparked an engaging response from the audience.
