Background

Against the backdrop of global population growth, rapid economic development, and escalating climate change, issues such as resource scarcity and ecological degradation have emerged as core challenges to sustainable development. Digital Earth technologies, through the construction of high-precision and dynamic digital twins of the Earth, provide revolutionary tools for resource investigation, monitoring, assessment, and management. This forum, themed "Digital Earth Empowering Sustainable Development and Utilization of Resources," aims to establish an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral international platform. It seeks to bring together young scholars, experts, government agencies, corporate representatives, and organizations from around the world to jointly explore innovative applications, key challenges, and future directions for Digital Earth in the sustainable use of resources, thereby contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Conference Sessions

The forum will feature in-depth discussions around the following six core thematic areas, though topics are not limited to these. Submissions related to Digital Earth and sustainable development are welcome. Proposals for new research frontiers, hot topics, or dedicated sessions from experts and scholars are also encouraged.

(1) Frontier Theories, Technologies, and Applications of Digital Earth:

     ·Artificial Intelligence applications in geoscience

     ·Modeling and analysis, etc.

(2) Digital Earth Technology Frontiers and Policy Synergy:

·Classification, grading, and security assurance systems for natural resource data

·Standards for global resource data sharing and operational collaboration

·Construction of digital twin platforms for natural resources

·Digital Earth technologies supporting regulatory and policy formulation

(3) Digital Earth Technologies for Resource Investigation and Monitoring:

·Integrated resource investigation and monitoring across space, air, ground, and subsurface

·Multi-source data fusion and the construction of real-time dynamic monitoring systems

·Intelligent prediction of resource reserves and spatiotemporal trends

(4) Digital Earth Empowering Optimal Resource Allocation and Efficient Utilization:

·Territorial spatial planning and optimization decisions for resource allocation

·Optimization of energy resource development layout and efficient utilization

·Intelligent sensing and precise management of all elements of natural resources

(5) Digital Earth Supporting Ecological Protection and Restoration:

·Ecosystem service value assessment and ecological redline monitoring

     ·Biodiversity monitoring and habitat conservation

·Digital management of the entire ecological restoration project lifecycle

(6) Digital Earth Driving Low-Carbon Resource Utilization and Development:

     ·Full lifecycle tracking of resources

·Intelligent assessment of resource and environmental carrying capacity with early warning decisions

    · Monitoring and simulation of carbon emissions and carbon footprints.
